This statement covers the period from the meeting of the County Council on 16 February 2022 to the County Council elections on 5 May 2022

 

STATEMENT OF THE CORPORATE AND PARTNERSHIPS OVERVIEW AND SCRUTINY COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN

 

The Corporate and Partnership Overview and Scrutiny Committee has a remit that includes the following:

 

·         The Council’s corporate organisation and structure, resource allocation, asset management, procurement policy, people strategy, equality and diversity, performance management, communication and access to services

·         Partnership working, community development, community engagement, community strategies and community safety  

·         This Committee is the Crime and Disorder Committee for the Council for the purposes of Part 3 of the Police and Justice Act 2006. 

Since the Chairman’s last statement to Council in February 2022, the Corporate and Partnership Overview and Scrutiny Committee has met once on 7 March 2022.  The following items were discussed:

 

·         Annual workforce update

·         Corporate volunteering project update

·         Update on Council Plan refresh.

There were in-depth discussions around the following:

 

·         The support being given to staff in response to Covid-19 and the sickness absence rate associated with Covid-19

·         The young people’s employment initiative and apprenticeships

·         Resourcing for the Council’s Health and Adult Services, ongoing support for and intervention in the care market and recruitment of staff into care roles

·         An overview of the impact of Covid-19 upon the number of people volunteering with Council services

·         Amendments and updates to the Council Plan 2022/23.

It is anticipated that the committee work programme will be reviewed by the new committee when they first meet on 6 June 2022.
